About 10,000 diameter inches to keep a furnace and its boiler in service. And dozens of copper circuits for the water-cooled elements of the Flash Furnace.
A smelting furnace and its boiler depend on their water circuit. At the Chuquicamata Flash Furnace, the water-cooled elements protect the furnace structure from the heat of the process, and the boiler circuit is what keeps the boiler in service.
LTF fabricated and installed the furnace cooling circuits, dozens of copper lines joined by silver brazing to 316L steel manifolds, with 200 people on shifts. On another project it removed the old circuits and fabricated and installed the new cooling system for the furnace and its boiler, with an 18 inch line, about 10,000 diameter inches, supports, booster pumps and a hydrostatic test on each circuit, with 250 workers.
Service: PipingWhat we deliver.
Every point comes from a real LTF project: each project sheet is linked below.
Copper circuits
Copper lines with their own valves, joined by silver brazing to 316L stainless steel supply manifolds.
18 inch line
Piping in various diameters, support system, blasting and painting of the circuits and installation of booster pumps.
Every circuit tested
Each circuit of the furnace and boiler cooling line was delivered with its hydrostatic test.
The projects behind it.
Flash Furnace and boiler cooling, 18 inch line
Removal of the old circuits and fabrication and installation of the new cooling piping system for the Flash Furnace and its boiler, with an 18 inch line and about 10,000 diameter inches, supports, painting, booster pumps and hydrostatic testing. Workforce of 250.

Request a proposal →What did the 18 inch cooling line include?
Removal of the old circuits, fabrication and installation of piping in various diameters, with about 10,000 diameter inches, the supports, blasting and painting, the booster pumps and a hydrostatic test on each circuit.
How were the copper circuits joined?
By silver brazing, connected to 316L stainless steel supply manifolds.
What workforce did these projects have?
The 18 inch line, 250 workers on rotating shifts; the cooling circuits, 200 people on rotating shifts.
