Hydrostatic testing of boilers and circuits.

Every boiler system and every cooling circuit LTF delivered at Chuquicamata was closed out with its hydrostatic test.

Standards and techniques

Before going into service, every circuit is filled and tested. Boiler systems and cooling circuits of the Chuquicamata Flash Furnace.

Hydrostatic testing

A hydrostatic test verifies the strength and tightness of a pressure system: it is filled with water and pressurized above its operating pressure, following the project procedure, to detect leaks or deformation before it goes into service.

LTF closed out with a hydrostatic test every system of the boiler banks, wall panels and boiler maintenance project for the Chuquicamata Division, in 2020 and 2021, and every circuit of the new cooling system for the Flash Furnace and its boiler, with its 18 inch line.

Service: Inspection and technical assistance

What we deliver.

Every point comes from a real LTF project: each project sheet is linked below.

Boilers

Hydrostatic test on every system of the banks, panels and boiler maintenance project.

Cooling circuits

Hydrostatic test of each circuit of the Flash Furnace and boiler cooling system.

Alongside inspection

On the boilers, the test was complemented by non-destructive testing: RT, MT, PT and visual inspection.

What is a hydrostatic test?

A test in which the system is filled with water and pressurized, following the project procedure, to verify its strength and tightness before it goes into service.

On which projects did LTF apply hydrostatic tests?

On every system of the banks, panels and boiler maintenance project for the Chuquicamata Division, and on every circuit of the Flash Furnace and boiler cooling system.

How does it differ from a pneumatic test?

A pneumatic test uses air or a gas instead of water. LTF applied it on the oxygen lines of the Chuquicamata smelter.
