A pneumatic test verifies the tightness of a piping system by pressurizing it with air or a gas instead of water. It is used when the system should not receive water or when its design requires it, and it is carried out following the procedure and safety measures of the project.
LTF applied pneumatic tests to the 16, 20 and 24 inch oxygen line system it fabricated and installed for the Chuquicamata smelter, with SSPC-SP5 white metal blasting, painting and installation of flowmeters. The job was carried out with 50 people and was recorded in November 2020.
