White metal, grade SSPC-SP5: the most demanding surface preparation in the standard. Applied on the oxygen lines of the Chuquicamata smelter.
SSPC standards define grades of abrasive blast surface preparation before painting: SP5 is white metal blast cleaning, SP10 near-white, SP6 commercial and SP7 brush-off. The grade is chosen according to the coating and the service conditions.
LTF carries out industrial painting and coatings to SSPC SP5, SP6, SP7 and SP10, as well as three-layer tapes, epoxies and heat-shrink sleeves for pipe protection. At the Chuquicamata smelter it blasted to white metal, grade SSPC-SP5, and painted the 16, 20 and 24 inch oxygen lines, and blasted and painted the circuits of the Flash Furnace and boiler cooling system.

Removal of the old circuits and fabrication and installation of the new cooling piping system for the Flash Furnace and its boiler, with an 18 inch line and about 10,000 diameter inches, supports, painting, booster pumps and hydrostatic testing. Workforce of 250.
