316L steel manifolds that deliver water to every furnace circuit. With 6, 8 and 10 inch supply systems.
316L is an austenitic stainless steel with molybdenum and low carbon content. Molybdenum improves its corrosion resistance and the low carbon reduces carbide precipitation during welding, which is why it is used in welded lines and equipment carrying water and process fluids.
For the cooling system of the Chuquicamata Flash Furnace, LTF fabricated and installed the supply manifolds in 316L steel and the 6, 8 and 10 inch supply systems in 316L stainless steel, with the copper circuits connected to each manifold. The job was carried out in 2023, with 200 people on rotating shifts.
