From the truck carrying tubes to the lowboy truck: six to seven months of fabrication in Concón. Receipt, inspection, cutting, jig layout, welding, certification and lifting, at the same shop.
In July 2025 the LTF shop in Concón received two trucks carrying the complete order of A192 boiler tubes and headers, shipped from Argentina, to fabricate the banks of the convection section of the Chuquicamata smelter boiler. The quality team inspected the lot against the purchase order and the technical specifications before releasing it.
Following the fabrication drawings, each serpentine coil was cut, sized, laid out on jigs and welded until the bank was complete. Boiler bank No. 6, weighing about 13 tonnes and with more than 1,000 welded joints, was certified and, in October 2025, lifted with an 80-tonne crane onto a lowboy truck to travel under escort to the Chuquicamata smelter.
